Abstract
The clinical efficacy of pemirolast potassium (TBX) was evaluated in 48 cases of perennial allergic rhinitis by oral administration for 4 weeks, and the following results were obtained. Nasal symptoms improved in relation to the duration of the treatment period, and the final global improvement rate of “moderately improved” or more was 49%. With respect to drug safety, sleepiness, constipation, and itching as side effects were observed in three of the 46 cases, however, all were of a slight nature. No abnormalities were observed in clinical laboratory test values. The utility rate, based on clinical efficacy and safety, of “useful” or more was 49%. Therefore, it is considered that TBX is useful for the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis.
