Abstract
Two cases of juvenile laryngeal papilloma are reported. Case 1 was a 4-year-old girl who complained of hoarseness in September, 1987. She was treated by surgical removal of the tumor and CO, laser under laryngomicroscopy and postoperative 5-FU nebulizer. The histological specimen showed hyperkeratosis, disturbance of the basement membrane and mild epithelial atypia. Treatment was repeated 8 times for 3 years. After the last treatment no evidence of recurrence was seen after one and one-half years and the patient's voice remains good. Case 2 was a 3-year-old boy who complained of hoarseness in June, 1991. His tumor was surgically excised. The histological specimen showed hyperkeratosis. Six months after the last treatment, no evidence of recurrence was noted and the patient's voice remains good. Some of the problems common to juvenile laryngeal papilloma are discussed.
