Abstract
Ethyl loflazepate was administered orally to 11 patients with tinnitus (in combination with vitamin B12 in 8 patients and alone in 3). This drug proved effective in 7 patients (64%), particularly in 4 of 5patients without organic disease (80%). In the patients who responded to this drug, the effects appeared within 2 weeks after the initiation of administration. Slight drowsiness following administration was observed in 4 patients (36%) but this side effect presented no problems to the continuation of drug administration. These results suggest that ethyl loflazepate may be useful in the initial treatment of patients with tinnitus.
