A man, aged 29, who had lost consciousness for 40 minutes owing to an wound on the head, complained of vertigo and spontaneous nystagmus after the recovery of consciousness. From this and the other findings the diagnosis was contral vestibular disorder owing to the lesion in the left brain stem. For treatment intravenous injection of 7% solution of sodium bicarbonate was administered. Although headache disappeared, vertigo and nystagmus did not disappear completely even after a year.
