Abstract

1) For the past 10 years, 73 cases of otogenous intracranial complications were treated, in which 48 meningitis, 34 sinus thrombosis and 6 brain abscess were observed.
2) The prognosis of meningitis was better in cases due to chronic otitis media than that of acute. The former were 15 cases, in which 8 cases were cured, while the later were 33 cases, in which 8 cases were cured.
3) For the spinal drainage, Tanaka-Oda's method (continuous drainage under the definite positive pressure) were employed with excellent results as well as laminectomy.
4) In these 108 cases of meningitis (1922-1936 60 cases; 1937-1946 48 cases), 32 cases (29.6%) were cured.
