Left nodular goiter with tenderness was found in a 58-year-old female. A malignant tumor of the thyroid gland was suspected, so left thyroid lobectomy was performed. The histological diagnosis was tuberculosis.
Primary tuberculosis of the thyroid gland is very rare, only 22 cases have been reported in Japan.
