The incidence of sialolithiasis in the parotid gland is usually lower than in the submandibular salivary gland. Sialolithiasis in the parotid gland was found in a 70-year-old who visited our hospital with a complaint of repeated pain and swelling of the left parotid gland when eating. A salivary stone was noted on X-ray radiography. Surgery was performed through an intraoral approach. A statistical analysis of 114 cases reported in the Japanese literature was attempted and the results are discussed briefly.
