抄録

Dissimilar upset resistance welding of C1020 and SUS304 plates was demonstrated using Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 metallic glass ribbons as interlayers. Welding was successfully performed both with and without the metallic glass ribbons across various welding current conditions. However, for all welding conditions, the average of the ultimate tensile strength of the specimens welded without the metallic glass ribbons was higher than that of those welded with the ribbons. The standard deviation of the ultimate tensile strength of the specimens welded without the metallic glass ribbons remained nearly constant, exhibiting higher reproducibility across all welding conditions compared to those welded with the ribbons. The largest standard deviation of the ultimate tensile strength was measured for the specimens welded with metallic glass ribbons when a substantial amount of the supercooled liquid, transit from the metallic glass ribbons upon resistance heating during welding, remained at the boundary between the C1020 and SUS304 plates without being extruded from the nugget and was crystallized by mixing with small amount of Fe.
