Abstract
Apart from the European and American coals, the Japanese coal is formed in the Tertiary from the Phanerogamia. It appears, therefore, to be error-neous to reproduce the picture illustrating the flora from a foreign publication.Based on the geological and botanical considerations, the authors have given the list of original flora for Japanese coals, and further an imaginary picture of the luxuriance.
