For the purpose of clarifying the constitution of low temperature tar pitch, chromatograph was applied to the narrow cut fraction, whose boiling range was 220-230°C/4mmHg.The results obtained are as follows:
(1)The amount of the saturated hydrocarbon in the sample fraction is about 10%, whose 50% are considered the normal paraffine, the carbon number of which ranges from C
28 to C
29.From the results of recrystallization of these urea adduct with pyridine, the author considered that there exist some isoparaffine and long chain alkyl compound in the adduct.
(2)The unsaturated compound mainly exists in the aromatic part of the sam-ple.
(3)The overall mean properties of the sample fraction show considerably higher paraffinicity comparing with those of the high temperature tar pitch, but consider-ing only about the aromatic compound except the saturated we can not find much difference of the aromatic nature between the high and the low temperature tar pitches. The number of condensed ring seems to be about 3.
(4)The aromatic parts contain O-, N-, & S-compounds and that some of the compounds have 2 or more atoms of O-, N-, & S-in their one molecule.
