Abstract
A review was given on several chemical reactions at extremely high pressures, which have recently become important from theory as well as industrial applications.Eyring's theory of reaction velocity was outlined. The examples of reactions explained were as follows: (1) polymerization, co-polymerization and telomerization of ethylene, and (2) reactions of CO with H2O, aliphatic hydrocar-bons, unsaturated compounds, alcohols, ketones, nitrogenous compounds and Reppe reactions. The characteristics of products and reactions were evaluated.
