In this study, the environmental impact analysis and economic performance of BTL (Biomass to Liquids) process via green hydrogen-enhanced steam gasification of woody biomass followed by methanol and methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) fuel synthesis were studied. A concept of addition of hydrogen (H2) during biomass gasification to suppress the production of carbon dioxide (CO2), as well as to retain high quality of carbon in the biochar, was developed and simulated in a commercial software. As a result, the green-hydrogen enhanced BTL (GH-BTL) showed a higher yield of fuel (0.36 kg-fuel/kg-biomass) than the conventional-BTL (C-BTL). The CO2 emissions were reduced roughly 17% with an input of steam-to-biomass and hydrogen-to-biomass of 0.712 and 0.00395 kg/kg-biomass, respectively. From the economical point of view, the total product cost (TPC) computed for GH-BTL was 365.6 ¥/kg-fuel. However, the earning before taxes (EBT) were unfavorable in GH-BTL except the green hydrogen cost less than 250 ¥/kg-hydrogen.
