In this study, the data of woody biomass energy potential considering the business feasibility of logging operations for each forest sub-group and heat demand expected to introduce district heat supply were evaluated in a minimum cost flow problem by municipality in Iwate Prefecture. For the sake of brevity, the cost in this problem was assumed to vary uniformly with distance when considering environmental and economic aspects. In this case, the total supply of woody biomass is low relative to the total heat demand, so another supply site was set up at a remote location. As a result, it was identified potential pathways for inter-regional cooperation in Iwate Prefecture.
