The X-ray diffraction technique proposed by Hirsh are very useful for characterization of graphite structures in coal. The technique uses Fourier transforms of (002) diffraction peaks. For standardization and unification, optimum conditions for measurements, such as slits and sampling steps, were determined and the Hirsh formulas were coded for computation. It was found that the same results were given using some different apparatuses
