It is important to raise the co-firing rate of the woody biomass for CO_2 reduction in pulverized coal power stations. In this study, the in-furnace co-firing characteristics using cedar power as woody biomass was investigated by a large scale coal combustion test facility with three staged burners. The co-firing rate of cedar powder was 33.3% on the basis of heat value. In the case of in-furnace co-firing, all of cedar powder was supplied from the upper staged burner. The NOx concentration at the furnace exit by the in-furnace co-firing of cedar powder became very lower than that by the single coal combustion. The combustion efficiency by the in-furnace co-firing of cedar powder was higher than that by the single coal combustion.
