Activities for a "Sustainable Society" are carried out under various names. For example "Society with an Environmentally-Sound Material Cycle" and "Low-Carbon Society" are frequently used in Japan. However this situation can cause confusion for promoting Energy Education and its aim may be obscured. In this report, I consider how "Sustainable Society" and similar phrases are used in Japan currently and how they are related to promotion of Energy Education or "Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)" which aims to create a "Sustainable Society."
