The JFE high-temperature gasifying and direct melting furnace can treat various waste, such as municipal solid waste, industrial waste and so on. Oil coke, which is residue from coking unit in oil refinery, is used as low cost solid fuel. In this study, demonstration test using oil coke was performed to reduce the consumption of coal coke. In addition to the oil coke, city gas was also used in this test. By using oil coke, the consumption of the coal coke is reduced to 60%, and by using both oil coke and city gas, it is reduced t0 40%.
