The development of fundamental technologies of the innovative IGCC system, whose cold gas efficiency and thermal efficiency will be increased by promoting steam gasification, was attempted in this project commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). In this study, the performance of a commercial scale gasifier was predicted by the numerical simulation technique verified with the test results of our bench-scale gasifier. The net thermal efficiency of an IGCC system with bleeding steam to a gasifier was also estimated. The results showed the prospect for increasing thermal efficiency of IGCC systems with promoting steam gasification.
