抄録

Energy conservation actions of consumers increased temporarily after the Great East Japan Earthquake. They have now fallen to below pre-earthquake levels. In addition, newspaper coverage on energy conservation has declined significantly to 1/5 before the earthquake. There is a high correlation between the degree of newspaper coverage on energy conservation and energy conservation actions. This suggests that newspaper coverage promoted environmental awareness and energy conservation.
