In recent years, there has been a worldwide shift from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs), but the safety of lithium-ion batteries used in EVs has been pointed out, and the use of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries is being considered as an alternative. In order to solve the problem of long charging time in EVs, we developed a nickel-hydrogen flow battery that can change its charging/discharging behavior by controlling the hydrogen gas and tried rapid charging. As a result, we succeeded in charging at a 5 C under the condition of hydrogen flow rate of 0.1 L/min.
