1. As a part of series on the salt tolerance of lawngrasses, experiment was made to investigate the salt tolerance of Bermudagrasses (Common Bermudagrass, Tifgreen, and African Bermudagrass).
2. Bermudagrasses were grown in sand culture of various concentrations of NaCl. As the result of investigation, the growth of such grasses was distinctly injured in Cl 5, 000ppm treatment, and few plants died. On the other hand, few plants lived in the 15, 000ppm
3. With increasing concentration of Cl, Bermudagrasses were dwarfed, and the numder of stolons, leaves, and roots reduced. But, there were some cases where the numder of stolons increasd at low concentration of Cl.
4. Bermudagrasses are highly tolerant to the action of salt solution, compared with American and European lawn grasses in previous reports. There is no difference of salt tolerance among the kinds of Bermudagrasses.
