Abstract

Urban greening in residential area aims to raise the quality of residential environment and increase amenity of human settlement. This study attempts to consider the structure of green coverage in relation to the building use by research on the actual condition in the typical residential area in TOKYO. This study evaluates the quality of the green environment by such indicators as the ratio of green coverage and greening along tge road. Following are the main results obtained from this study. 1) The ratio of green coverage and greening along the road is given much weight in dwelling house. 2) The ratio of green coverage and greening along the road in the whole districts are decreased by invasion of apartment house and combined dwelling house into the low-storied residential area. 3) The ratio of green coverage and greening along the road of apartment house and combined dwelling house are much lower than those of detached house.
