Abstract

This study is the analysis of the social background concerning the tree-planting activity of the inhabitants that had appeared from 1975 to 1985 and is the analysis of the process that the activity had been organized. On the base of this study, we shall get th more reasonable systematization method of the tree-planting activity of the inhabitants for the future.
The object of this analysis was 27 town areas. 27 town areas were selected from 9 cities. The Data in order to analysis was the imformation that obtained through the questionaire for the inhabitants and the interview with the representative of the town.
In the matter of the social background, we found it throughout the field survey that the social background bringing about the tree-planting activity was satisfyed with the next conditions. The peoples intention of the settlement is to be strong, the neighborhood is to be very intimate and a Chiyonaikai (neighborhood association) is to be vivasity, and so forth.
The next matter is of the process that the tree-planting activity had been organized. What kind of circumastances, the activity had been organized. The most important fact is to be a good leader in its town. All the acts organizing the tree-planting activity is progressed by the leader. The leader make effort to enlighten the inhabitants about the tree-planting mind, to promote the mutual understanding through several meetings and to arrive at the agreement. The next two facts is very important. One is to be supported by administration from beginning to end in the process of the organization. Another one is the trait of its activity. The tree-planting activity of inhabitants is not a independent organization, but it is the organization that is dependent upon the comprehensive and local organization, so called Chiyonaikai.
Last of all, We hope this study shall be able to contribute to the study on the tree-planting activity of the inhabitants.
