From the time of Vitruvius onwards, there are various Kinds of proportional dissertations for design and these have many points of striking contrast. To extract recondite formula for proportion in art, it must be considered the synthesis of these dissertations. A brief summary may here-be made to the combination of two proportional laws in twenty century, viz. Dynamic Symmetry (by Jay Hambidge, 1920) and Kreisgeometrie (by Ernst Mössel, 1926).
The arguments of the two amount to quite the same thing on the following points. These two theories reach the same conclusion about the ratios whichs are most frequently used for design. But the more important fact is that these two stand on the principle of identity for the recurrence of a fixed ratio. It may be assumed that the proportional secret of design is not the ratio but the fact of its functional recurrence and these dissertations may be considered a the method of constructing it.
The design of stone-groups in the Reiunin Garden can be explained by the recurrence of Golden Section, as in Fig. 1. The beauty of this stone-groups is found on it.
