The production of multiple items with shared cycle times and shelf life constraints has been considered by Sarker and Babu. They reported a significant effect of production cost for one item. In actuality, a model with two or more items must be considered. After refinement, the model is shown to be useful for the situation where multiple items violate the shelf life constraints. The aim of this paper is to extend the work of Sharma with a lot of items that have shelf lives in order to enhance the generalization. The problem is formulated mathematically, and the optimum cycle time as well as S. Sharma model has been obtained. Both the options discussed before are considered independently and computations are explained with the help of numerical examples. The paper is further extended for the simultaneous optimization of cycle time and production rate of the constrained item.
