Many factories have, traditionally, introduced systems that use conveyors to transport work objects to the next work area during a multi-stage assembly process. However, with the development of technology in recent years, some factories have introduced systems that can transport work objects individually using automated guided vehicles. This study compares the makespans of these two types of transport systems and verifies which system is able to produce products more efficiently. In addition, factors relating to the makespan will also be examined for the individual transport system.
