Abstract

This paper discusses the size of mamples required in Stein's two-sample procedure to obtain desired"relative error"for work measurement. The size of initial samples extremely affects the results of two-sample procedure. The optimal sizes initial sample based on the following three criteria are determined : (1)minimization of expected size of total samples;(2)no further sampling;(3)minimization of the cost due to sampling.
