The present paper discusses a new design problem of single acceptance sampling plans by variables for the boubly exponential characteristics in the case of unknown standard deviation. This procesure is based on the MVLUE (minimum variance linear unbiased estimator) for the parameters of the distribution. A comparison is attempted between the proposed plans and the plans which are derived from the linear combination of sample mean and sample standard deviation. Tables of factors are also provided from which the desired sampling plans can be designed without great difficulty.
