Since the Thyristor Brush Machine (TBM) is composed of poly-phase drum type armature winding such as the ordinary do machine, the characteristics of TBM can be expected as same response and controllability as the do machine. TBM is a kind of the Commutatorless Machine with poly-phase inverter, and is controlled by firing angle on direction of motion and of power flow. The four quadrant operation control system of TBM is established only by a six pulse rectifire circuit and TBM.
This paper presents the fundamentals of construction of the seven phase TBM system. An experimental control system is made by digital elements, and composed of convertor control and inverter control circuit. Four quadrant operation control sequence and argorism are introduced. Experimental results are also shown to present good controllability of the machine and the use of control program.
