Although a temperature sensor for stern tube bearing is one of the most important items in the propulsion shafting system in the sense of knowing the operating condition of stern tube bearing, the relations among positioning and structuring for installation of the temperature sensor and sensing effectiveness is not fully understood and method of sensor installation is different among the respective companies.
Under the circumstances, simulation about sensing effectiveness is carried out in the use of model testing devices, and information about installation of temperature sensor and measured value of temperature is gathered from actual ships.
As a result of them, essential points on installing the temperature sensor and monitoring temperature are rounded up in order.
