Abstract
For the purpose of making clear the influence of some ingredients of marine degraded fuel oil on machinery failures, we investigated on the relation between machinery failures caused by degrated fuel oil and it's ingredients by the results of Ring Analysis using the analytical data of sample oil taken from many ocean going ships and used with main and auxiliary propulsion machinery and presumed to have been the cause of failure.
Namely, it was found that from the results of Ring Analysis using specific density 15°C, g/cm3, kinematic viscosity cSt @50°C and sulphur content wt%, marine degraded fuel oils having %Cp under 55, %CAover 43, RAover 2.1 and specific density over 0.975, CCAI over 845, Ii, over 64 have possibility of influence the occrrence of machinery failures.
