The towing experiment using a barge model and a towing carriage has been carried out in order to investigate characteristics of the towing resistance coefficient and pitching motion in regular head waves. In this study, we consider the reason why the towing resistance extremely increases in a particular wave length/ship length ratio(λ/L). And also the influence of towing speed and the wave steepness on the towing resistance and pitching motion is examined through results of experiment.
