The card of ship's magnetic compass must be steady under all circumstances on board. Damping the movement of the card is one of the most valuable techniques in designing the compass. This paper presents the outline of the movement of the card when it is disturbed by the sinusoidal force as giving several periods and a constant amplitude. And it also shows that movement such as this is possible to be analized by the form of a linear ordinary differential equation of second order with constant coefficients.
