Variable Structure Systems(VSS) are discontinuous dynamic systems whose control structures are changed according to some chosen state variable(s) so as to achieve certain control objectives. In this tutorial-like paper, we shall give a brief theory of VSS and then demostrate its application to the control of the simple do-buck converter.
