The Earthquake struck Northern Miyagi in July of 2003 was only a regional earthquake, even though it caused high number of casualties ad extensive damage to facilities. Hospitals had been damaged too; especially the National Health Insurance Hospital of Kashimadai-machi and the Public Fukaya Hospital in Northern Miyagi suffered big damage, forced the patients to be evacuated to safe place. This study that tried to grasp the actual circumstance in damage mitigation and emergency response on the basis of an interview process to these two hospitals, was aimed at clarifying the unique seismic protection measures for mitigating the seismic hazard risks posed to hospilals in the fututure earthquake.
