奄美大島の観光価値に関する経済評価分析

In this analysis, we used zone travel cost method (ZTCM) to estimate the recreation value of the nature and cultural resources of Amami Oshima and analyzed its implication for tourism policy. This is the first time to measure the tourism resources of the island. The analysis was performed by using the questionnaire data collected at the Amami airport in 2002, based on the results of a preliminary survey. After briefing the characteristics and trend of the tourists in Amami Oshima, we reviewed the theoretical background of the ZTCM and examined the basic validity of its application to the collected data. Then, we found that the recreation value of the island is to be nearly 10 billion yen per year. Finally, this article suggests that the total economic effects including the private benefits counted on the basis of regional accounts might be about 40 billion yen per year without the external negative effects of tourism.
