For the purpose of development of the teaching materials, the instruction technique of the education for consumers, university students studying to become elementary school teachers were taught about how to handle textile products and what the symbols on their labels mean (JIS L 0001:2014). They were also instructed in making their own labels. Afterwards, a survey was conducted on their level of understanding. The purpose of this research was to determine the educational effectiveness of this lecture.
Results were positive in terms of; students’ self-assessments on label making, their desire to teach the class in their futures and the benefits of this lecture to students studying to become teachers.
