This study used a mixed method analysis to clarify the process of reducing learners' food waste in accordance with the home reduction behavior. This is based on the qualitative data of learners' impressions, which were collected during the evaluation of the food waste learning program.
Results show that this program could strengthen the intrinsic motivation to acquire cooking skills by deepening one’s social awareness of food waste and cooking skills, and the internalization of consumer citizen values. It became clear that learners can develop an independent action attitude. The problem-solving cooking practice suggests a learning process by which a physical understanding of social issues is created and feasibility evaluation, self-affirmation, and elation for food waste reduction actions are expressed.
