Morphodrom of Hourse Spleen Ferritin Crystal

Abstract

We studied the crystallization of horse spleen ferritin. The size of a ferritin molecule is 13 nm in diameter, and the molecule has very high symmetry (F432). Morphology of the ferritin crystal was drastically changed with the changes in the supersaturation and the type and concentration of impurities. The mechanism of the morphology change will be discussed.
