Growth and Characterization of Organic Nonlinear Optical Crystal, DAST

Abstract

High quality DAST(4-demethylamino-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium Tosylate) crystal has been grown from saturated methanol solution by a slow cooling method. The FWHM of (001) XRD rocking curve could be decreased to 15.8 arcsec., 1.5 times larger than that of Si(111). It was found that there is a close relationship between the mechanical property and the crystallinity. The Vickers hardness increase up to 49 as decreasing the FWHM.
