In the period from 1947 to 1955, Home Economics Education had included the content of"Ways of Living in Adolescence".However, the Course of Study in 1956 included it in Social Studies.The aim of this paper is to clarify the reason why the content that had been included in Home Economics Education was moved to Social Studies.We investigated the Course of Studies and journals such as"Kateika Kyoiku", "Sangyo Kyoiku"and"Chutou Kyoiku Shiryo".The results were as follows. 1. In 1956, the Ministry of Education had a strong intention that"Human Relations"should be taught not in Home Economics Education but in Social Studies. 2.Home Economics Education could not justify a learning theory for it and how to teach effectively.There fore they had no choice but to accept the intention of the Ministry of Education. 3.Most people had a way of thinking that Home Economics Education should be a practical subject to learn sewing and cooking.
