The aim of this study was to analyze descriptions in Home Economics Course of Study in order to investigate the changes in 'Sexual Education' of Home Economics. The descriptions were compared with those in Health Education and Science Course of Study. In this first report, authors investigated the period from the end of W. War II to the start of Co-education in Home Economics. The results were follows; The changes in the descriptions in Home Economics Course of Study were classified into two stages; the first stage was from the last half of '40s to '60s, the second was from the '70s to '80s. In the first stage, 'Sexual Education' played a role in teaching sexual morality and the function of family to have excellent children was emphasized. In the second stage, 'Sexual Education' was to encourage female students to have children and responsibility as maternal love in a nuclear family was emphasized. This emphasis of maternal love, is related to that, it is the woman who bears burden for housework or nursing and lifelong gender division of labor.
