Findings of the questionnaire survey of 144 first-year students at a public junior high school suggested that the SASHIKO stitching training class was a FLOW experience for many of the students. The enjoyment of the activity and the change in the sense of the passage of time, which are characteristics of the FLOW experience, were felt strongly by the students. The FLOW scores during the SASHIKO stitching training class were related to the following: 1) Increase in the number of stitches in students’ works 2) Self-evaluation of sewing after the class 3) Awareness of meaningful learning in the class 4) Willingness to do the work at home after the class It was suggested that students who had a higher degree of FLOW experience in the SASHIKO stitching training class had more fulfilling products, learned more, and had higher self-evaluation. Based on the above, this study confirmed the educational significance of joy and satisfaction in the sewing class.
