The present study was attempted to explore male prison inmates’ interpersonal attitude and locus of control (LOC) by use of SCT. The KSCT-G was administered to 150 male inmates and 52 male noncriminals. Their SCT responses were scored in terms of interpersonal attitude (positive-active, positive-passive, neutral, negative-active, and negative-passive), and also in terms of causal attribution of interpersonal occurrences (internal-deep, internal-surface, neutral, external-personal, external-inpersonal). The main results were that the inmates showed more positive-passive interpersonal attitude and also showed more external locus of control in their responses to SCT than the controls did. These results were consistent with our hypothesis that the external style in LOC underlied the inmates’ passive attitude in their interpersonal relations.
