Abstract
A 60-year-old man had experienced pyrexia and abdominal pain, he admitted clinic and was undergone CT scan. Because CT scan showed an air containing mass in the mesentery of the small intestine, he was referred to our hospital for treatment. Although he was asymptomatic at the time of admission, his inflammation enzyme was increased by blood test. We judged him to need hospitalization and stated intravenous infusion of antibiotics immediately. On the second hospitalization day, he had high fever and severe abdominal pain with muscular defense suddenly. We performed emergency operation for acute peritonitis. The tumor was located in the mesentery of the small intestine and was involving in the surrounding small intestine. This tumor was disintegrated partially and intestinal fluids had leaked out in the abdominal cavity. We performed partial resection of the small intestine. His post-operative course was uneventful and he was discharged on the 14th post-operative day. This tumor was diagnosed as an intestinal mesenteric desmid tumor by immunohistopathological examination. An acute peritonitis caused by abdominal desmoid tumor are relatively rare. Herein we report a case with intestinal mesenteric desmid tumor who followed specific course.
