Development of a web-based active learning system and application and evaluation in faculty development

Abstract

Active learning has been adopted mainly in face-to-face classes and has been shown to improve learning. Realization of active learning on the web can lead to a wide range of high-quality learning opportunities. Therefore, in this research, a web system called LearnWiz that enables active learning including group work was developed. In addition, to evaluate the quality of the system, an FD workshop was conducted and participants responded to a questionnaire survey before and after the workshop. The results demonstrate that the subjective understanding of the contents was significantly deepened and the system and the workshop were positively evaluated. The results show that the system can enable active learning, including group work, online and that the quality of the system is high.
