Abstract

This study investigated the impact of thought modeling on experiential learning and competence improvement in a workplace of young workers, and elucidated the actual status of thought modeling. Using structural equation modeling based on the data obtained from an online survey, we tested our hypotheses and confirmed that thought modeling positively influenced the concrete experience of experiential learning and competence improvement in a workplace. The results also demonstrated that young workers modeled thinking from their supervisors and seniors by watching, listening, and reading, focusing mainly on objects such as how work and tasks were done, methods and procedures, and materials including from past ones. In addition, the higher-ranked group in terms of competence improvement in a workplace demonstrated that they were able to observe objects, including their workmates or customers, and that they learned deeper thinking through analyses in addition to watching, listening, and reading.
