For the analysis of genetically modified potato in potato snacks using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, four DNA extraction methods (Genomic-tip system, DNeasy Plant Maxi Kit, DNeasy Plant Mini Kit, and CTAB extraction method) were evaluated. DNA from eight snacks were evaluated using PCR with the primer pair to specifically detect the potato sucrose synthase gene which are universally existing in potato. These results suggested that CTAB extraction method was not suitable for the extraction of DNA from snacks compared with other three extraction methods. DNA from two snacks contain genetically modified potato were evaluated using PCR with four primer pairs to specifically detect the recombinant DNA introduced into two genetically modified potatoes (NewLeaf Plus Potato, New Leaf Y Potato). These results suggested that Genomic-tip system was the most suitable method for extraction of DNA from snacks contain genetically modified potato compared with other three extraction methods, DNeasy Plant Maxi Kit was the second most suitable, and CTAB extraction method was not suitable.
