1)The normal embryonic development of a fresh water cyprinodont teleost, the medaka, Oryzias latipes is observed under the controlled environment of 25°C and pH7 and is shown by photomicrographs from life. Sometimes the chorion is removed with the help of the hatching enzyme and trypsin.
2) The identification of developmental stages is made after MATSUI's description which was published in Japanese (1949), with some modifications by the present authors.
