Based on his 18 years of teaching experience in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Osaka University, the author offers his unique perspective on how fluid mechanics should be taught. Certainly, the solution methods and properties of solutions to individual partial differential equations, such as the Navier-Stokes equations, are important. However, the author's focus is more on the structure of fluid mechanics and the role that conservation laws play in education of fluid mechanics, including multiphase flows.
